Strategic approaches to human resources management and team development: professional development, motivation and burnout prevention

A presentation of a comprehensive approach to personnel management and human resource development of the university community was held at the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University. The event was held within the framework of the Academic Managers Professional Development Program, which includes representatives of the KNUVS.

In her opening remarks, the university’s rector, Valentyna Yakubiv, emphasized that staff development, support for faculty and staff, the creation of a favorable working environment, and systematic work to prevent professional burnout are strategic priorities of the university.

At the heart of the modern management model is an approach in which the person is the university’s highest value.

The training speakers – Natalia Belova, Igor Hurak, and Tetyana Kornienko – presented a comprehensive overview of modern approaches to human resources management, based on Ukrainian regulatory requirements, international practices, and research in the field of talent development.

The main highlights of the report included:

  • autonomy and responsibility of HEIs in the field of personnel management;
  • talent management and staff development;
  • modern models of motivation and increasing engagement;
  • preventing burnout and supporting employee well-being.

The speakers paid special attention to the issues of adapting new employees, personnel planning, and the application of HR analytics at the university.

It was noted that the implementation of a modern HR policy requires coordinated actions of all structural divisions. That is why the team of the Human Resources Department, which consistently adheres to the professional principle: “People are the university’s highest value,” worked on the preparation of the materials.

The department team works on the development of each employee, ensuring the development of competencies, supporting staff in professional matters, and implementing up-to-date HR tools.

The presentation was an important step in strengthening the human-centric approach and shaping sustainable human resource development at the university. The presented ideas and practical recommendations will form the basis for further work on improving HR processes, developing leadership, increasing staff motivation, and creating a healthy, productive, and innovative environment.
