Business is open to all: inclusion and diversity in business strategies and employment

3rd-year students of the “Primary Education” specialty, together with teacher Iryna Skavinska, as part of studying the educational component “Fundamentals of Inclusive Education”, attended the second conference of the “Ukrainian Corporate Equality Index” project in Kyiv – Business Open for All: Inclusion and Diversity in Business Strategies and Employment, organized by the “Tochka Opory” NGO.

This event served as a space for open dialogue, where students, through informal education, could listen to panel discussions with representatives of leading Ukrainian and global companies – METRO, JTI, Intellias, McDonald’s, Suspilne, Monobank, Aurora, Good Bread, and others.

During the event, students had the opportunity to learn more about the concept of transition – a complex and phased process that includes not only graduating from school, but also developing independent living skills, socialization, career planning, further education, or employment for people with disabilities.

For students of the specialty 013 Primary Education, studying “Fundamentals of Inclusive Education”, participation in this event was an important step towards a better understanding of the realities of the modern labor market and the needs of people with disabilities. Of particular importance was the idea that inclusion is not a one-time project or a fashion trend.

This is a culture that must be implemented at all levels: from the highest echelons of the country’s governance to everyday decisions in the workplace. And it is young people, future educators, who can and must change this culture both in their professional activities and in society as a whole. Much attention was paid to how business can and should respond to such challenges.

Ideas were voiced about creating inclusive work environments where everyone has a chance to develop, regardless of their age or life experience.

Speakers repeatedly emphasized that implementing inclusion is not only a moral choice, but also a strategic advantage for business. Teams where there is room for diversity become more creative, resilient, and capable of finding non-standard solutions.

This event once again confirmed: students of the specialty 013 Primary Education of our college are mobile, active, open to new knowledge and experience. They know how to learn outside the classroom, look for opportunities for development, and strive to make the world a better place.
